I AM Dawn Bliss, a Chicago-based professional makeup artist with 25 years experience in the Fashion & Beauty Industry. My fascination with the art and ritual of transformation led me to study Fashion Merchandising at Illinois State University, all the while experimenting with my own image and the appearance of others. After a few years working in the Couture and Designer Sportswear departments at Neiman Marcus and Saks 5th Avenue, I made the natural transition to professional makeup artist in 1998, where my extensive database of film and fashion references allowed me to create a portfolio of different looks on my clients. I later created the mobile makeup artistry business Edit Faces from the standpoint that there is no "good" or "bad" makeup, only well or poorly executed makeup applications involving a series of "edits." Having a neutral approach to makeup allows me to gladly interpret a variety of looks based upon my clients needs, although I am known for creating flawless skin with an emphasis on the eyes. Dawn Bliss Beauty is the evolution of Edit Faces, to now include a growing portfolio of Boudoir, Commercial, and Editorial work in addition to representing Bridal and Special Occasion clients.
My approach to makeup is transformation. By exaggerating my client's favorite features and camouflaging the rest, I help clients look and feel their best. Because each face tells a distinct story, I enhance the features that make you unique! Whether you want to portray strength and warmth for your headshots or femininity and grace walking down the aisle, a well-crafted face will give you the confidence you need to conquer the moment. That's where 20 years of professional experience proves invaluable! I do the heavy lifting so my clients can relax and be their best selves.
Over the past 2 decades, I have traveled to NY, LA, Las Vegas, Mexico, and Hawaii to provide makeup services for my clients. It's such a blessing to be able to combine my love of travel and exploration with a gift that makes people happy. It's the best of both worlds! From 2013 to 2015, I was one of two makeup artists working behind the scenes at ABC's Windy City Live, preparing hosts Val Warner, Ji Suk Yi, and Ryan Chiavarini along with celebrity guests such as Neo, Giuliana Rancic, and Jim Belushi for the daily live broadcast. I've glammed models for Chicago Fashion Week and have my work published in Chicago Magazine, Michigan Avenue Magazine, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, Chicago Style Weddings as well as many trade publications. Next stop...NY Fashion Week! Due to the growing popularity of makeup artistry, I'm currently enjoying sharing my expertise, tips and tricks with clients and professional makeup artists alike through private and group lessons.
You can be anyone you want to be and I can help you get there!
